Designer Notes: So, I’ve always been into Catholic reliquary busts and African guardian figures that share the characteristic hole in the chest for sacred objects. This plays off that idea. I don’t want to belabor the symbolism, you’re smart, you can figure it out.
Totem of the Long Loneliness
Self Portrait: Totem of the Long Loneliness
Transformation Mask

Designer Notes: Carved in cedar, inspired by native american transformation masks, but completely different in style.

My Need, My Burden
Designer Notes: I exhibited this along with All My Useless Outrage in God Doesn’t Like Ugly in ’09, an exhibit in a church, as is traditional (also happened with Hurt in ’08) an irate visitor veiled the piece in a plastic bag.
