When we saw this furniture, all we could say was… WANT!

Designer Notes:
This is the finished bronze octopus, modeled off the blue ring octopus. We estimate that we put around 1500 man hours into this project.

Octopus Process
Octopus Process
Designer Notes:
Here is the head with the mold being built around it. Each section has to be put on the clay individually and takes about an hour and a half to dry.
17 Pieces
Designer Notes:
Here are all 17 pieces of the octopus sprued and in the process of being dipped. All of the pieces have now been cast in bronze and came out great.

Wax Shop

Designer Notes: Here we are taking over the wax shop with all of our pieces.
Cleaning after Sandblasting
Designer Notes: Here I am cleaning up the octopus after its sandblasting. This is before the patina was added to it so its super shiny!
Underside
Designer Notes:
This is the underside after all the legs were welded on. The reason we flipped it was because we were wondering if we should weld the underside for the sake of stability. Fortunately our welds on the top of the legs were big and strong enough to do the job without welds on the underside.
